Project Assistant – (Maternal Child Health)

Do you have a passion for public health assisting mothers and their children to receive in-home nursing services? Medical Care Development, Inc. (MCD), a nonprofit public health services organization is accepting applications for a Project Assistant to join our team for the Maternal Child Health (MCH) project. This position will be housed in Augusta with staff at the Maine CDC office. The Project Assistant position is a non-exempt, full-time 40 hour per week position that is eligible for MCD’s benefit package.

The Project Assistant will provide office and administrative support to the MCH referral program requiring operation of office equipment, knowledge of office processes, and diverse clerical functions. The position requires a person with both a keen attention to detail and follow through to meet deadlines. The Project Assistant will interact with key internal and external stakeholders and must possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

This position will assist with the MCH coordination services including monitoring the Referral fax line to ensure timely processing, entering data into electronic software systems, presenting referrals for designation, and working with service providers. Additional responsibilities include the ability to create and use varied correspondence, develop informational materials including forms, pamphlets, maps, charts, graphs, and reports in electronic and written form.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in health related field is preferred or an equivalent of education and experience. (A combination of four (4) years of education, training, and/or experience in health, public health, or related field.)
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and demonstrated cultural competence are essential.
• Strong organizational skills and the flexibility and ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision.
• Proficiency with all current Microsoft Office programs as well as any other software programs necessary to perform the job.
• Competencies among successful applicants are expected to be consistent with those identified by the Public health Foundation Council on Linkages as Level I.
