CradleMe

CradleME is the new streamlined Maternal and Child Health referral program for the state of Maine. Originally piloted by MCD in partnership with Eastern Maine Medical Center, the CradleME program was launched statewide by the Maine CDC on May 1st with staffing support from MCD. The basic function of the program is to connect families to free home visiting services provided by Maternal Child Health nurses and/or Maine Families home visitors. CradleME receives and processes an average of 13 referrals a day for prenatal women, new mothers, and infants. The goal of CradleME is to improve maternal and child health outcomes by:

  • Ensuring prenatal women and birthing families are encouraged to accept the free, voluntary services available through CradleME.
  • Making the referral process as easy as possible.
  • Connecting families with the right services as quickly as possible.
  • Supporting collaboration and communication among the Maine CDC’s MCH Network providers to better support families.
  • Increasing access to parenting education and health care for new families from all backgrounds.
  • Connecting families who struggle with substance abuse to services and support.
