What CHWs are saying about the online training:

"What I like most about this training module is the breakdown of a CHW’s role in the health care system, understanding that a CHW is a bridge between patients and the community, and becoming more knowledgeable of different resources that can be offered."

"I really liked the interactive questions, pictures, and videos. They made the module easier to follow and understand. It really explained what our role is with a patient/client with a chronic condition."

"The data given throughout the module about prediabetes gave me a better understanding of how many people are at risk in the United States."

"Definitely liked how this module showed examples of open-ended questions and the right way to ask a question without implying/answering the question myself before the client has a chance to tell me in their own words."

"I like that it gave us a personal outlook on things that go on in real life situations. It showed ways to include family members."

"I found the training to be helpful and have learned some new approaches to engage my clients that suffer from chronic health issues."

From 2013 to 2017, MCD Public Health, in collaboration with the Maine Migrant Health Program, worked to develop training systems, a certification mechanism, awareness of, and support for community health workers in Maine. Both agencies have a history of training and employing Community Health Workers. Some elements of the collaboration were funded through a contract with the State of Maine. The State of Maine activities are documented on the website.
