Health Literacy

MCD Public Health provides staffing support (Health Literacy Coordinator) to the Maine CDC Office of Health Equity for assessing the current state of Health Literacy and Health Communication in the Office of Health Equity and the Maine CDC overall. This work includes developing a Health Literacy plan and providing implementation support. The Health Literacy Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and compiling trends of agency usage of interpreter services, evaluating interpreter services, establishing new protocols, and providing opportunities for staff training in procedures for plain-language review of written communications.
