Maternal, Child, & Family Health

MCD Public Health provides ongoing consulting for state and local agencies working to improve maternal, child, and family health. Projects and clients include:

- Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Prevention data analysis, strategic planning, systems development, marketing/communications, and ongoing technical assistance for the Maine Children's Trust and CAN Prevention Councils, with funding and support from the Maine Office of Child and Family Services, to reduce the number of children who are victims of child abuse and neglect and reduce the number of children in state care. (2015-Present)

- Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) strategy and systems development, training and technical assistance for Maine Families Home Visiting Program to continuously improve participant health and wellness outcomes, optimize program resources, and maintain fidelity to the Parents As Teachers home visiting model. (2016-present)

- Project management and work group facilitation for "CradleME" pilot program at Maine CDC and Eastern Maine Medical Center to develop and implement a streamlined and user-friendly single-site referral system that encourages all birthing families to access needed services. (2014-present)

- State-level and regional work group facilitation and project management for Maine CDC Public Health Nursing and Maine Families Home Visiting collaboration. Successes included development and implementation of collaborative agreements for non-duplication and improved coordination of services for perinatal families statewide, creation and dissemination of collaborative practice guidelines, tools, and trainings for field staff, as well as dissemination of joint communications materials and referral guidelines for health providers. (2011-2015)

- Ongoing data analysis, grant writing and grant management support for Maine's federal Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) grant through Maine DHHS and the Maine Children's Trust. (2011-present)
